the problem

  1. dense copy, mixed controls

the process

  1. five options, one chosen

I designed 20 responsive screens and a working prototype for email, push and text preferences. Five options considered, one chosen, all kept for the record.

Five alternative phone layouts side by side.

the solution

  1. one clear state per channel

The phone field moves off the list, and each channel gets one clear state.

impact & next steps

  1. two risks caught before launch

I caught a migration risk that would have quietly reset guests who had opted in, and a validation gap that could have recorded consent for a phone number the guest never entered. Design QA with engineering passed with no blockers.
